Congo & Niger Rivers Converge: Artistic Landscape Art Print
About The Original Painting
Congo and Niger Rivers, 2012
Acrylic on canvas
24” x 24”
The painting of the Congo and Niger Rivers was inspired by a line from a favorite Sufi chant, "The ocean refuses no river." I'm captivated by how the vast blue ocean in this artwork serves as a unifying element between the two rivers. The arrangement of yellow chevron "V"s is designed to amplify the feeling of convergence and unity.
This painting is part of the Rivers' series of paintings where I delve into my fascination with traversing landscapes as a form of self-exploration, akin to embarking on a vision quest or a pilgrimage to a sacred site.
In these paintings, the rivers are portrayed as if they are tuning forks, resonating across the Earth's surface. This collection celebrates our ecological systems as an interconnected entity, serving as a reminder that our physical, psychological, and spiritual selves are intrinsically linked to the natural world.
