Mississippi River (Yellow & Teal) - Art Print
About The Original Painting
Mississippi River Watershed (Yellow, Teal), 2016
Acrylic on canvas
24” x 12”
Experience the awe-inspiring beauty of America's Mighty Mississippi with the hand-painted acrylic landscape art, Mississippi River Yellow & Teal.
Using yellow and teal as the primary colors, this expansive artwork captures the immense flow of water from the entire country.
For my depiction of the Mississippi River, I aimed to convey the vast quantity of water that converges into it from across the nation. I painted the Mississippi's form, the coastline it meets, and several of its key tributaries to illustrate this confluence.
This painting is part of the Rivers' series of paintings where I delve into my fascination with traversing landscapes as a form of self-exploration, akin to embarking on a vision quest or a pilgrimage to a sacred site.
In these paintings, the rivers are portrayed as if they are tuning forks, resonating across the Earth's surface. This collection celebrates our ecological systems as an interconnected whole, serving as a reminder that our physical, psychological and spiritual bodies are embedded in a relationship to the natural world.
