About

River Art Gallery

In her captivating river art series, Jenelle Leigh Campion explores the profound connection between landscapes and spiritual journeys. Each river art piece transforms waterways into sacred resonances, depicting them as natural tuning forks echoing across Earth's surface. From the mighty Amazon to the sacred Ganges, this gallery features the world's most significant waterways.

Originally conceived as her MFA project at the California Institute of Integral Studies in 2012, this river art gallery has grown to include fifteen distinct pieces celebrating our deep connection to natural waterways. The series features diverse rivers including the Amazon, Colorado, Congo and Niger, and Ganges.

A special focus of the gallery is the Mississippi River Watershed, explored through eight unique interpretations using varied color combinations - from vibrant purple and blue to striking yellow and teal. Each Mississippi piece offers a different perspective on this mighty river system, using color pairings such as green and yellow, maroon and red, orange and green, pink and maroon, purple and blue, purple and green, and yellow and teal.

The gallery also encompasses other significant waterways: the Murray River, Nile River, Rio Grande, and Rivers of the Gulf of Mexico. Through this diverse river art portfolio, Campion portrays these waterways as living entities that connect our physical, psychological, and spiritual existence. Each piece invites viewers to embark on their own journey of self-discovery, celebrating the vital role rivers play in our world's ecological and spiritual landscape.

This river art gallery originated from Jenelle Leigh Campion's MFA project at the California Institute of Integral Studies. Each river painting transforms waterways into sacred resonances, depicting them as natural tuning forks echoing across Earth's surface. The collection uniquely combines physical geography with spiritual symbolism, creating river paintings that speak to both environmental appreciation and inner journeys.

River paintings create powerful focal points in meditation spaces, living rooms, and areas where you seek a sense of flow and movement. These pieces work exceptionally well in spaces where you want to enhance feelings of tranquility and connection. River art can be arranged as a series to create a flowing visual journey through a space, or as individual statement pieces that anchor a room's energy.

In this collection, rivers symbolize the paths of consciousness flowing through our world. They represent the connection between physical landscapes and spiritual journeys, serving as metaphors for life's continuous movement and transformation. Each river painting invites viewers to contemplate how water shapes both Earth's surface and our inner landscapes, connecting us to something larger than ourselves.
